Artist's Statement
"Working directly from the model continues to be a fascinating activity for me.
The close scrutiny of the model means the process is as much about seeing as drawing.
Observation is key to my work,
and I only draw from live models to capture the dynamic aspect of the subject.
I will be back in the studio in October and am looking forward to increasing the fluidity and texture
of my work."
About the Artist
Karen Mayne studied Fine Art at Portsmouth University. She lives and works on the Isle of Wight, where she has been a member of life drawing groups
for a number of years. She regularly joins a group at Central St Martins in London, and is available for commissions.
She is currently involved in various projects, including web design and build; plus supplying information systems for outdoor festivals.
